It has been the goal of Democrats since FDR to create a universal health care system guaranteeing health care to all Americans. Every other major industrialized nation has done so; it is time for this country to join.
The Affordable Care Act is an important step towards granting universal health care for all. The ACA lead the pathway for over 17 million Americans to gain world class healthcare.
Their plan of “TrumpCare” passed out of committee with Representative Kinzinger’s approval. Adam voted yes when Trumpcare finally hit the House floor. Adam Kinzinger Voted yes to kick off over 23 million Americans off healthcare, 700,000 Illinois, and over 35,000 thousand from his district off healthcare. Adam Kinzinger does not protect our healthcare, he destroys it.
As we move forward we must build upon the successes of the ACA to achieve the goal of universal healthcare. We can achieve this goal by expanding the successful Medicare program, which has been lowering healthcare costs for seniors for over fifty years.
To create a single-payer healthcare system in America, we must continue to take steps towards expanding our current Medicare program. By doing this we are able to share the successes of the Medicare program with all Americans.
We can start by gradually lowering the age one is eligible to receive Medicare until all Americans are covered, thus finally achieving the single-payer, universal healthcare/Medicare for all that we deserve. This process is something that will not happen overnight, let alone in the first two years. It will be a long battle, one that I will fight for, one that other progressives will fight for, one that we will not stop fighting for until we achieve single-payer healthcare.
