Paris Climate Agreement
Paris Climate Agreement:
Our President has decided to remove The United States from the Paris Climate Agreement. This monumental collective agreement among 191 nations curbs carbon emissions caused by human activities and helps slow the warming of our only planet. The United States will now be one of only three nations that have not signed the Paris Agreement. The only two nations to not sign the agreement are Syria, who has been in a deadly civil war for years, and Nicaragua, who argued that the agreement was not strict enough. It is an embarrassment that our President’s decision to pull out is due to grossly misleading statements and flat-out lies. WE MUST TAKE ACTION!
The overwhelming evidence shows that climate change is real and caused by the increase of CO2 in our atmosphere. 97% of scientists agree, backed by peer-reviewed scientific research, that humans are the primary cause of climate change. Yet there are still some political leaders who think otherwise and will continue to lie to protect their donors.
“Come join me and together we can combat climate change”
It’s not only a matter of protecting our environment but also a matter of national security. Leading military personnel throughout the world have agreed that one of the largest threats to our society is climate change. When fields flood and when drought becomes more severe the world food supply will become sparse. Which will lead to political unrest across the globe.
All over our nation, Mayors have stepped up and said they will continue to cut our carbon footprint with the original Paris Agreement. I call for more of this: Senators, Congressmen, Governors, Mayors, and other local officials, I challenge you to make a similar pledge.
I make that pledge to you today, if elected as your Congressman, I will push for investments in renewable energy to help curb our carbon emissions. I will work with local leaders in my district to support their pledge in cutting their town or city’s carbon footprint and protect the only planet we have, to protect our future, and our children’s future.
Come join me and together we can combat climate change. Together we can leave Mother Earth better than when we arrived.
